What’s at stake? The chance to show your stuff in London on May 1-3 and potentially be picked by one of the seven international teams who compete in the DCL World Championship. To get there, you need to qualify for the Draft Selection roster by playing the DCL – The Game between February 18 (12:00 UTC) and March 30 (12:00 UTC), 2020.
How to qualify for the Draft Selection
In the DCL, everyone has the chance to become a professional drone racing pilot by building their skills and showcasing their talent on DCL – The Game. And playing in the DCL Draft Selection London serves up the biggest showcase of all. To earn a spot:
- Register for Draft Selection Qualifying in DCL – The Game, launching on February 18, 2020.
- Fly fast! The 300 players who top the leaderboards when the Qualifying window closes on March 30 (200 playing on Steam, plus 50 each on PS4 and Xbox One) will receive a questionnaire to complete in 3 days. We are not just looking for the fastest but those with technical skills, social media skills and fluency in English. Invitations will be issued after this.
- The Draft Selection 2020 will take place in London in the capital’s trendy Shoreditch neighborhood. (All related expenses, including travel costs and accommodation, are the responsibility of the players.)
DCL Draft Selection London
Pilots will be put to the test in the Draft Selection London, held at the Red Bull Gaming Sphere from May 1-3. What can you expect if you’re among them? Challenges like flying DCL – The Game in a track you’ve never seen. Unfamiliar setups (weight, power, etc.). Even mock-interviews in English. All under the scrutiny of team managers and representatives. What will they be looking for? Adaptability, drone technical knowledge, team mindset, your attitude and public presence, and, of course, outstanding piloting skill under pressure.
At the 2019 DCL Draft Selection in Cannes, France over 20 pilots were picked by the pro teams, like the USA’s Ethan Kling, who took a seat on the big stage for Korea’s Veloce Racing, and Daniel Ayre of Australia, who delivered impressive race results for the China Dragons. How many players will be picked this year, and which of them will earn a seat in a DCL Grand Prix? Stay tuned.
DCL – The Game is available from February 18 in retail, on PlayStation4, XBoxOne and Steam. For more information on DCL – The Game, and to keep updated with leaderboards, visit www.dcl.aero/game
