LIVE TV PREMIERE FOR DCL
The next race of the Drone Champions League (DCL) will take place this weekend in the Romanian salt mine “Salina Turda”. SPORT1 presents the first race (Race 1) live on Saturday, October 14, from 13:00 hrs.
As media partner of Drone Champions AG, SPORT1 presents the first “Race in Caves” on free TV. Nico Seepe will be the commentator of this spectacle. Race (Race 2) on Sunday, October 15 will be moderated live on SPORT1.de with English commentary by Matt Andrews. Germany’s leading 360° sports platform presented the DCL race weekend in Liechtenstein on live stream and highlights on television in September this year.
Who conquers “Salina Turda”?
For the second time in a row, the DCL takes its racing series into the depths of the “Salina Turda”. The “Race in Caves” is an exciting ride for pilots and spectators; the highlight of the course is the difference in altitude of 40 metres in the two cave plateaus. The track in “Salina Turda” is again an absolute highlight for the teams and drivers in the 2017 racing calendar, while important points of the season are at stake: The race in Romania is the last before the season finale in December in Berlin.
Trend sport – drone racing
The aim of the drone race is to master a course with remote-controlled flying drones, also called “race copters”, as quickly as possible. In the DCL, the world’s best drone pilots compete with 700g drones that can reach a top speed of 140 kilometers per hour. Each Race Copter is equipped with a camera that transmits video signals to the pilot’s glasses so that the pilot can control the drone from the cockpit. At the same time, the breathtaking first-person-perspective is produced and shared with the audience.
