PROPTOWN PREVIEW, FROM PLAYERS TO PLAYGROUND

After eye-popping upsets at the 2020 kickoff in Vaduz, the second showdown of the Virtual Season will be a proving ground to find out who has the true momentum. This weekend, eight teams will charge the fully bespoke environment of the Virtual Drone Grand Prix Proptown, USA.

TOP RACING TOPICS:

British invasion or American advantage? The big story of Vaduz was the battle between XBlades (UK) and Quad Force One (USA). The US team were narrowly defeated by the defending British titleholders in Saturday’s Finals. Then they overturned the Brits in a rematch on Sunday. Tied in the points at the top of the standings for the World Championship of professional drone racing teams, these two rivals are itching to break free of each other.

Everything to play for. The first Drone Grand Prix of the season is always about learning, and as they take off for round two, the world-leading pilots have discovered a lot about themselves, and each other. Japan’s Raiden Racing, for example, is a serious challenger for the first time in two years, while Russia’s Drone Sports, who were third overall in 2019, still have time to claw up from a surprising last place.

New tracks, new challenges. A fresh location for the World Championship, Proptown is the only venue of the season with no real-world landmarks. And while it incorporates current features of the Proptown environment on DCL – The Game, there are wicked new trajectories among the streets and skyscrapers. Again, the teams will face four new tracks, one daytime and one nighttime on each day of racing. And they won’t see them until Qualifying.

Team member switcheroos. Many of the teams have made changes to their rosters. How will Apex Racing perform without Dane Grace? Can the China Dragons come together despite revising 50% of their lineup since Vaduz? Plus, some teams have chosen to mix up their pilots between Saturday and Sunday!

Wily wildcards. The Wildcards for Proptown are “Team Hot Props.” This crew is packed with contenders who have consistently been among the top when working together as a team, as well as in DCL – The Game Solo Trials. So they aren’t going to be satisfied with merely racing against the world’s best on the big stage. They intend to beat them.

HOW TO PLAY THE TRACKS

All four of the new Proptown tracks will be released on DCL – The Game. Saturday’s track on August 10, Sunday’s tracks on August 17. Share on social how your times stand up to the pros!
