DCL partners with Juked for 2020

For its unprecedented Virtual Season this year, the Drone Champions League (DCL) adds a new partner: esports hub Juked.

Throughout the 2020 DCL calendar, which runs from July through October, each two-day Drone Grand Prix will stream in its entirety on Juked, with added features including video-on-demand all part of the experience.

Based in California, Juked was created to provide a better way to discover, watch and engage with the best events and content from across the global esports community. The one-stop destination not only serves up Twitch streams of top events live and on demand, but also enables fans to join real-time chat and receive notifications to follow their favorites.

Launched in 2016, the Drone Champions League is the recognized championship for professional drone racing teams. DCL draws the world’s leading drone pilots, who compete on eight international teams in jaw-dropping tracks around the globe. The innovative series, which was also the inspiration for DCL – The Game, has always blurred the line between virtual and reality. So when the current situation arose, infrastructure was largely in place to transition to an entirely virtual environment.

“From the moment we decided that our season needed to go virtual this year, we knew that our approach to fan engagement would be key,” says Drone Champions League CEO Mike Höhsl. “We had already decided to stream exclusively via Twitch, so partnering with the experts at Juked was a natural fit. No matter where you are, Juked is the go-to place to watch and interact with DCL live events throughout 2020.”

The DCL Virtual Season kicks off on Juked with the Breitling Virtual Drone Grand Prix from Vaduz, Switzerland on 18-19 July 2020.

About DCL

The Drone Champions League (DCL) is the recognized championship for professional drone racing teams: an innovative race series that blurs the lines between virtual and reality. Since 2016 the DCL has drawn the world’s best drone pilots, who qualify for each race in DCL -The Game and then go on to compete on international teams in spectacular real-life settings, from global capitals to surreal natural wonders.

The LED-lit racing drones dart through the custom tracks head-to-head, reaching speeds of more than 160 km/h as the pilots fly them using virtual reality goggles. First to the finish wins, and margins are breathtakingly tight. Each DCL race is broadcast live, worldwide on TV and online. In 2020, DCL will take their season to the virtual world and has recreated real-life cities inside DCL – The Game.

DCL partners include Red Bull, Breitling, myWorld, and IQONIQ. For more information: www.dcl.aero
