After 18 thrilling races in the first half of the 2023 season, the first of two final races of the DCL will take place in Rapperswil this year – a captivating fusion of the virtual and real world with real pilots. The picturesque city on Lake Zurich has been meticulously recreated, immersing international pilots in a stunning virtual environment accessible through their computers. Anticipate two hours of heart-pounding live racing action that will keep your adrenaline levels soaring. Will the drone pilots conquer the challenges and cross the finish line unscathed?
From its humble beginnings as the DCL Simulator in 2016, which later transformed into the game “DCL – The Game” in 2020, the journey has evolved into the current seventh season of the Drone Champions League. But this game is more than just a pastime; it serves as a training ground where pilots can refine their skills and qualify from the comfort of their own homes. While anyone can strive to qualify, only those who successfully pass the rigorous Draft Selection process secure a spot in the prestigious Drone Champions League. Once qualified, these skilled pilots virtually fly their drones across screens worldwide, captivating audiences with their prowess.
This year’s DCL World Championship features ten outstanding teams from around the globe, with six of them advancing to the final showdown on July 8th. An enticing prize pool of 50,000 euros awaits the winners, distributed proportionally based on their final placements. Currently, XBlades Racing and Quad Force One are leading the charge in the DCL World Championship, showcasing their exceptional abilities and determination.
Thanks to the immense digital reach of over one million viewers during our previous events streamed on DCL Twitch, Rapperswil has garnered worldwide attention. Alongside renowned locations such as Brussels, Vaduz, Stavanger, and the Great Wall of China, Rapperswil stands out as one of the exclusive locations with astonishingly realistic digital renditions. Furthermore, Laax has been a remarkable part of the DCL, with drones gracefully soaring over its snow-covered landscapes.
The format for the final of the DCL Grand Prix Split 1 Final will be as follows: the Semifinals will be a Best of 5, the Finals will be a Best of 7, and all matches will be played with 2 pilots from each team.
