FL1 GRAND PRIX LIECHTENSTEIN

The Principality of Liechtenstein will be the centre of the drone world from 1 to 3 September. The capital Vaduz is transformed into a race track for the 36 best drivers in the world.

The FL1 GP Liechtenstein is the second race of the 2017 calendar after a spectacular race on the Champs Elysees in Paris with 180’000 spectators, where the fans experienced the drone race at its best.

Liechtenstein “The Monaco of Drone Racing”
Drone Champions AG, organizer and marketer of the Drone Champions League, is based in Liechtenstein and has close personal and geographical ties to the Principality. Analogous to the international Formula 1 racing spectacle in Monaco, Drone Champions AG will place drone racing directly in the limelight of the Executive and Legislative Court in Vaduz over the next three years.

DCL Live – in more than 100 countries
This mega-event in the small Principality is broadcast by international TV partners in over 100 countries. Additionally there are live streams on YouTube and on the official DCL Facebook page. The breathtaking content is also captured by a 150m long cable camera, which will be used for the first time in Liechtenstein.

New race format
The new racing format focuses on the overall performance of the entire racing team. In contrast to last year’s race format, the so-called heats with only two colours competing against each other are easier to see. Strategy and tactics are among the new challenges for the teams, which arouse great enthusiasm among the spectators. The new format already showed its advantages in Paris with exciting racing fights.

Get to know the pilots
Among the eight starters are the best pilots in the world. There will be autograph sessions and a meet & greet after the race, where fans can experience the Drone Racing Stars.

Exciting, spectacular and majestic
A selective course with artificial and natural obstacles requires a high degree of skill from the pilots. The unique and iconic place in front of the parliament and the government court under the Principality of Castle already guarantees a spectacular route.

FL1 as title sponsor
Drone Champions AG has an extremely valuable partnership with the local communication network FL1, “With FL1 we have found the perfect partner for the event in Liechtenstein. We are convinced that this partnership is groundbreaking both for the drone racing scene and for Liechtenstein. Many innovations and possibilities can be realized in the cooperation between two Liechtenstein companies for the next few years. CEO and founder of Drone Champions AG. The local company will officially represent the event as FL1 Grand Prix Liechtenstein. For Matthias Maierhofer, CEO of FL1, the cooperation with the young start-up is more than logical: “The drone race in Vaduz will attract great international attention and bring together several megatrends. As Drone Champions AG, FL1 is also interested in new technologies and wants to be a pioneer. The trends: virtual reality, e-sports and drones fit perfectly into our concept.”
