CONRAD RACING WINS FL1 GRAND PRIX LIECHTENSTEIN

The Drone Champions League is coming home. With a new drone racing concept, a new title sponsor, a growing number of young and international pilots and a unique track, the FPV racing drones brought the first drone race to the wet and sunny skies in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, the home of DCL.

In front of thousands of live spectators and millions of television viewers from over 100 countries, a total of 32 pilots, 4 pilots from 8 teams, competed against each other for the FL1 GP Liechtenstein title.

FIRST LEG
2:1 was the result of an exciting semi-final between the CONRAD Racing Team and NEXXBlades Racing. The other semi-final was NEXXBR Freeflow and the pilots of FPVRacing.CH. The Swiss team secured their places in the final in front of their home crowd.

Two minutes before the final it started raining, which did not prevent the professional and highly qualified pilots from fighting for the title in Vaduz.

Heiko Schenk of Conrad Racing led the drones out of the starting blocks and never looked back. With only two of the eight surviving drones, Schenk dominated the heat and brought home the first trophy of the German DCL 2017 season as FL1 Grand Prix Liechtenstein Champion!

Although it was raining all day long, it did not affect the event, the pilots and fans stood up and cheered for the teams. There were no technical problems related to the weather.

SECOND LEG
On Sunday the sun shone on the government square in Vaduz for the second stage of the FL1 Grand Prix Liechtenstein. The quarter-finals included several exciting battles and NEXXBLADES Racing defeated Rotorama 2-1 in the final, while NEXXBR Freeflow defeated the “home” city favourite FPVRacing.ch.

The final was a battle between the two British teams. NEXXBLADES won the first two individual competitions with 12-year-old Ashton Gamble and 10-year-old Adam Blackburn, who each won one point. Adam beat South Korean Youngrok Son by an eighth of a second! The following two individual competitions were won by NEXXBR Freeflow.

Since all pilots flew at full throttle, there were several overtaking manoeuvres and crashes. Young Adam Blackburn looked like he was going to win, but Alexandre Madroux quickly preferred and NEXXBR Freeflow won on a beautiful Sunday evening in the heart of Liechtenstein!

The trophies were presented to the top 3 teams by Liechtenstein Sports Minister Daniel Risch, Prime Minister Adrian Hasler and Alois, Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein.

All in all, it was a complete and amazing two-day event that attracted the attention of viewers on site and online. The DCL Crew & Drone Racing Community is looking forward to the next stop of the Brussels Drone eShow when the DCL Grand Prix Brussels takes place on the Mont des Arts from 23 to 24 September.
